Do-It-Yourself Divorce

A do-it-yourself divorce is when people want to handle the divorce on their own.

Both spouses are able to discuss and reach agreements and complete all necessary legal documents. They are not represented by attorneys and do not need a mediator to help them find mutually acceptable resolutions.

The result is a very inexpensive divorce and an increasingly attractive option to Michigan residents.

So why consider a do-it-yourself divorce?

With the recent changes in the law in Michigan, DIY couples are able obtain guidance from attorneys without having the divorce put into a courtroom. The changes also mean an end to many of the complicated legal forms and Court procedures that made a DIY divorce challenging. So today a DIY divorce is easier than ever to achieve and is the least expensive way to obtain a divorce.
